NAME: Maria Sokolova. AGE: 24. LOCATION: New York City. ALIGNMENT: Angel. ABILITY: Traditional Eastern-European witchcraft. To call Maria a "go-getter" is not quite accurate— most people who know her would say she's more of a "get out of my way unless you want to be steamrolled by a skinny blonde white girl" type person. Aware of her role in the apocalypse from a young age, she and her twin sister Christine have been preparing for it since before either even knew what "apocalypse" meant. Maria is an upbeat, neurotic, fiercely energetic person whose hyper-competence, competitiveness and focus could have taken her anywhere she wanted in life— it just happens that she chose the life of a vegetarian restaurant owner. She holds a law degree, but has chosen not to do much with it, opting instead to pour her energy into her restaurant. The restaurant is located in a nice part of the city, is called "Enchantment" and has thus far been awarded two Michelin stars. Maria has complete and utter conviction in herself and her cause to the point where she doesn't see any reason why she should have to explain these things to anyone. They should just know! She was raised with strong respect for animals and nature. She doesn't necessarily have anything against humanity, it just doesn't occur to her that they might be worth more than the planet. Briefly entertained the idea of becoming an environmental lawyer in a very uncharacteristic period of doubt, but it passed when she realised that she could never make enough of a difference to make herself happy that way. 28. She doesn't share her sister's nerdy video game thing, but she's really good at arcade games due to an elementary school career spent taunting and then extorting boys out of their lunch money. While she can't handle songs from The Sound of Music she's fine with West Side Story as long as somebody intends to dance. 32. Loves Game of Thrones because she is bloodthirsty and tricksy. Her favourite character is Cersei. 33. Lying is another hobby of hers, and she's great at elaborate ones due to her organisational skills. Can essentially, with Chris' help, brainwash people into believing an alternate reality of her creation with little to no magic involved. 34. Can speak Russian, albeit accented. She made an effort to learn from her grandmother and took a few courses in college as well. 35. When she's upset, she gets out her angry vodka and watches Charmed, making angry commentary on the things that are wrong. She does secretly enjoy the show, though. 36. Maria is very glad, sometimes, for her role in the apocalypse and what she sees as her ultimate destiny— dying young. This way, she never has to worry about whether or not someone could ever put up with her quirks and neuroses long enough to stay with her, and she never has to confront the problem of being what she perceives to be unlovable and insane as a bag of cats.
